MultiConcord is a Multilingual Parallel Concordancer used by translators and teachers of languages and translation since 1996. It makes use of source texts and their translations, to provide examples of how words or phrases have been translated in technical literature, novels or whatever documents are available in more than one language.
It uses truly parallel texts; that is texts which relate to the same source. For example, Alice in Wonderland is available in a many languages and normally the whole book is translated. The English/French is truly parallel but so also is French/German, since they are both translations from English.
You can select any pair of languages from the available files and search for a word or phrase in one of them. You will then see, one at a time, the full sentence of every example in the search language and beside it the equivalent sentence in the other language. Multiconcord does the matching 'on-the-fly', so it doesn't always get it right, but it is right normally 9 times out of ten. If you aren't sure or want to see more context you can look at a whole paragraph.
Multiconcord has extensive context searching, and sorting and filtering facilities built in to make your exploration of the texts more enjoyable.
You can also create tests for your own or for classroom use. There are six test types available, and you can create different tests from the same set of results without having to repeat the search.
Licence costs are £50 for a single user, up to 10 users £350, up to 25 users £500
