Developed in association with the Open University here in the UK, CopyCatch Campus provides full automation of the monitoring process, with detailed reports on norms of similarity, and delivery of fully marked pairs in HTML format.
A single screen allows flexible choice of both search and reporting functions to create batch files for automated running, or simply to run a report.
CopyCatch Campus was developed in co-operation with the Open University, who had decided to use CopyCatch Gold but needed both to extend its capabilities to the handling of course sizes of thousands and to automate the whole process.
Comparing even 50 files requires 1225 pairwise comparisons. 2000 files requires 1,999,000 comparisons, so the problem was not a simple one. CopyCatch Campus provides a single input screen for course admininstrators to create a batch file for automated operation.
The screen allows entry of;
- Course Details
- E-mail destination for reports
- Report name
- Directory for checking
- Directory for comparison (if any)
- Template file for exclusion
- The number of files at the suspect end to be selected for mark up
The user can either;
- create a batch file for use by an automated system
- or run the currently selected process
The program produces a report and a set of marked up pairs showing the sentence similarity in HTML format. The report contains;
- A full list of the actual percentage similarity found for all the pairs. This allows the establishment of a norm for the course and shows clearly those files which are well above that norm.
- A list of the files which fall into the upper category set by the user
- A list of the HTML files which the program has produced
